Paris is an old city full of intrigue with a long history; the river it straddles, the Seine, also has two islands, situated in the oldest part of the city. Paris short stays are very popular and for good reason as it makes a superb location for a romantic weekend; with a great deal to see and do that to really a week is needed.
Visitors flock to see its many wonderful buildings; it has much to offer visitors who adore culture, even if it is only for a long weekend. Visitors to Paris as well as its citizens can travel around Paris easily; the Metro underground system is easy to understand, efficient and reaches everywhere even the most enthusiastic tourist would want to visit.
It wouldn't be possible to visit this city without a trip to the top of the famous steel structure known as the Eiffel Tower; it can be seen from any point within the city and the superb views just can't be matched by those looking at it from the ground. At night, it comes alive with lights that have to be seen to be believed; guided tours add to the thrill as you get to peek into history on how it was constructed.
On your Paris trip ensure you add the famous Champs Elysees to your list of places to visit; it will present you with many famous designer shops and good restaurants. This is considered a more exclusive and busy area of the city; most of the five star hotels are located here but more affordable hotels can be found further out.
The world famous Louvre museum is in this city; with over 300,000 wonderful artistic works, you simply cannot see all of it in one day. A short stay in Paris only ever allows a small appreciation of what is on offer; some of the most important art collections in the world are here including Leonardo da Vinci's world famous Mona Lisa. Many well known artists spent years of their lives in Paris; the likes of Monet, Picasso and many others lived in the city for years and some of their work can still be seen today.
Of course, Napoleon commissioned the construction of the Arc de Triomphe, another Paris landmark; the names of his generals are engraved on its surface and another of those 'must have' photo land marks. It also features an observatory to take in surrounding views; it can be found in Charles de Gaulle Place at the intersection of twelve avenues including the Champs Elysees.
Certainly it is not fair to believe that these are the only places in the city worth visiting; and whilst there are many more worthy examples, those listed here should not be missed. It is fair to say that you won't see everything on a Paris short stay of two or even three day break; what you aren't able to this time will have to wait for another occasion.
