When buying your digital camera, look for a large LCD screen version which many newer cameras have as standard; this screen allows for greater shooting flexibility in addition to making it easier to view them afterwards.

Many of the sub-compact versions have decided to do away with the viewfinder and concentrate on fitting the largest screen they can because people like using them. As functions go, the optical zoom is one of the most used and important of features on any model. The picture quality deteriorates if you use the digital zoom camera and generally isn't worth the bother once you have seen the image results. Remote controls and diopter adjustment are still quite rare but handy if you have them fitted although I would prefer to have a tripod socket if there were a choice.
