There are many different causes of hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. Generalized hyperhidrosis and focal hyperdydrosis are the two different kinds of excessive sweating conditions. Symptoms of excess sweating as it occurs in some people are the focus of both conditions. There are two categories of hyperhidrosis that both result in symptoms of over sweating.

Seek the advice of a professional if you feel your excessive sweating may not be natural. If you have a condition that has excessive sweating as a symptom, there are wide assortments of treatments that may be available.

Generalized Hyperhidrosis

In general hyperhidrosis, there can be several causes of excessive sweating, just as with focal hyperhidrosis. There are a number of disorders that can cause excessive sweating in generalized hyperhidrosis such as cancers, obesity, endocrinological disorders, and febrile illnesses. The sufferer can sweat from any part of the body when they have generalized hyperhidrosis, as opposed to one localized problem area. Stress and other psychological problems are also contributing factors to generalized hyperhidrosis.

Focal Hyperhidrosis

This is a condition in which the sufferer experiences excessive sweating in particular areas of the body like the armpits, feet, or head. There are genetic causes that play into the excessive sweating in focal hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating that is mainly confined to one particular part of the body is a symptom of many different disorders. For example, one who sweats from their face while eating or right after has what is called Frey's Syndrome.

Excessive sweating is simply a symptom, what causes it is the actual problem. Besides natural causes, diseases and disorders cause excessive sweating. Hormonal fluctuations and psychological disorders that pertain to anxiety and phobias are known to cause excessive sweating.

High temperatures, thick clothing, exertion, certain foods and numerous other things are natural factors that could cause excessive sweating. These factors can easily be controlled to fit the person. A person can cure excess perspiration unless the cause is a medical condition which renders it irreversible.

The problem is easy to fix once you figure out what is causing the extreme sweating. If you want to locate the triggers of your sweating then a doctor can run tests to pinpoint the causes.
