Adolescence is a difficult time when hormonal and emotional changes affect a teen's moods, thoughts, and actions. All parents of teenagers can attest to this, but sometimes the changes that some teens go through are too extreme to be normal. At the first sign your child may be suffering from this, make a doctors appointment and see what can be done. If it reaches the point where your child is threatening to hurt themselves or someone else, you need to take them to the emergency room immediately. Anyone who suffers depression this severely needs to seek medical help immediately. It is important to remain calm. You do not want your child to think that you blame them for anything, and you also don't want to you and your child to grow any further apart.
