With much debate, what is biodiesel actually? The first thing you have to know is that biodiesel fuel can be produced from a variety of natural crops such as mustard, flax, sunflower, soybean or waste vegetable oils. The advantage of this fuel source is said to reduce engine wear and produce less harmful gas emissions. It is also a great alternative fuel source however it does require engine modifications.

As it was mention earlier, biodiesel fuel can be created from several resources. The fats and oil that is used to produce biodiesel fuel will dictate important properties as energy content, cold flow and oxidative stability. Cold flow has a lot to do with the temperature at which fuel crystallizes. Regarding energy content, AgriFuel claim that its saturated fats have more energy.

Oxidative stability deals the antioxidants. These antioxidants lead to a longer shelf-life. Various oil and greases can subsequently create biodiesel fuel. Here are some examples of various biodiesel fuel derivatives. Both sources that are current use and some of its future prospects as well as how AgriFuels advocates in order to get a rough idea of this.

Rapseed Oil found in Europe are the most common oil for Biodiesel fuel. These Rapseeds are known as Canadian variety canola in Canada. The oil that has the most potential in it would be the Mustard Seed Oil. Not only can that it be use as oil but also as organic pesticide. Algal Oil could be the next big hit for biodiesel fuel as some algae contain 50% of oil.

All the oil that is thrown away in the dumpster by many restaurants and businesses are collected. All of this recycled oil that might have been waste restaurant grease or used vegetable oil and made into biodiesel oil. Using our waste streams as feedstock for other products would be another sustainable alternative. In the search of finding alternative suitable engines, producing biodiesel fuel vehicles may be a good choice.

There are so many different options to look at in the acquisition of biodiesel fuel and with this it could only assist the whole country as a nation to be a greener nation.
