If you are considering an in ground pool you may want to consider fiberglass swimming pools. These pools can last longer and take less maintenance than concrete pools or vinyl pools. They take much less scrubbing making them much easier to clean also. Fiberglass lasts longer too and maintains well.
The pools come already formed into a shape making them quicker to install. The inside of the pools are nice and smooth unlike concrete's texture. They are also sealed so they do not react as much with water keeping it cleaner. This lets you use fewer chemicals. You also don't have to clean the pool so often. With using fewer chemicals like chlorine the water is gentler to a person's skin.
Concrete is not only higher to maintain cleanliness wise but concrete can crack over time. Vinyl liners are a bit easier to maintain than concrete but they can still just slap wear out over time. Fiberglass just seems to being able to outdo these two in lasting power. Fiberglass is built to take the beating of being used.
When all else is breaking in an earthquake situation you may be surprised to know that fiberglass swimming pools have a chance to weather the quake and come out fine. That is how darn durable this fiberglass is. The other super advantageous quality it has is not being affected by tree roots. The vinyl liners really have a trouble with this sometimes.
Fiberglass swimming pools may not be your choice due to the restrictions on shapes they come in. There are many shapes, colors and even depths and stair layouts to choose from. They cannot be designed as uniquely as concrete or the vinyl liner pools can be. So choose what shape you want first before choosing what material you want your pool made out of.
In a pool made of fiberglass you need to allow water to stay in up to a recommended level during the winter months. This would not be good if you lived in a frigid area of the country. You would need to use concrete or vinyl lined in these areas. Your nearby pool authority would be able to help you choose.
Think about where you want your pool to be installed. Is it convenient to getting to a restroom in your house? Are you taking into consideration the size of your yard compared to the size of your pool? If you are on septic are you placing your pool right in relationship to it? All of these things will be important questions to answer.
You will also want to landscape around your pool after it is fully installed. Make sure to use plants that can withstand the pool chemicals. Check with your local nursery to find out which plants are best. You may also keep in mind that you do not want high maintenance plants around you pool too. You want to keep the whole area very relaxing to be in. Now you are ready to fully enjoy swimming and socializing in your pool.
