When it comes to 3M adhesive tapes there are a number of different types one can choose from. Each one of which has been developed and designed for a specific task and will perform reliably every time that they are used, no matter what situation they are to be used in. 3M has now gained more than 50 years experience in relation to the development of all forms of adhesive technology and one of the most well recognized producers of adhesive tapes today. 1. VHB Tape - This is one that can be used for bonding metals, glass and plastic to each other and has proved to be very reliable. This tape eliminates you need to drill holes in order to join such items together so you will have no unsightly joints or fasteners that protrude. Given a much cleaner and professional looking finishing to the item.

2. Adhesive Transfer Tape - These are pressure sensitive and have adhesive on both sides as does the VHB tape. However this tape has a liner on one side of the adhesive to protect whilst you apply the other side to the first surface. This is a tape that can be used with many light weight materials and is ideal for paper and plastic products.

3. Specialty Masking Tape - This one has been developed for use with printed circuit boards, chemical baths and photographic processes. The tape contains components which allow the surface to adhere to the item and are in no away affected by the chemicals or metal that they may come into contact with.

4. Metal Foil Tape - This kind of adhesive tape from 3M comes in a number of different styles. The main one used is one which has an aluminum covering to it, but there is also a aluminum reinforced tape and one that contains a lead backing. All of them come with a silicone adhesive and are very soft and malleable so can be wrapped around anything. These tapes are used on items where temperature levels can get extremely high.

All the 3M adhesive tapes that we have mentioned in this article can easily be purchased and are very quick and easy to apply. But for them work effectively the surface to which they are going to be sticking to needs to be cleaned well before they are applied. Using a solution of water and mild detergent can help to remove dust, debris and grease from the surface. Then once washed the surface of the object should be left to dry completely as this will allow the tape to adhere better.
