When I was younger I always thought people with wrinkles looked funny. Now that I am older I am trying very hard not to have them. To keep from having them though I started looking into what causes them. I will share some of the information I have found out. Let's discuss causes for wrinkles and skin aging.
The dermal layer decreases in thickness also. It has less collagen because of less being produced and the skin becomes less elastic. Lines and other conditions happen when this occurs in the dermal layer. The skin also dries because of less sebum being made in the sebaceous glands. We also have fewer sweat glands as we age which can cause dryness too.
There is a thinning that happens in the dermal layer that can cause some problems. The collagen production is severely hampered and the skin has less ability to stretch. This can cause the skin to fold or crinkle. The sebaceous glands become less active therefore not enough sebum is produced causing the skin to dry. Even our sweat glands get less in quantity which can make the skin dryer.
There are many specialized products that you may try to help with your fight against wrinkles. There are elixirs to add moisture, there are creams for lifting and to make the skin tighter, and mixtures to take the lines away. Experiment with some of these products before considering a medical procedure. You may just find you don't have to spend a lot of money to cure your problem.
Smoking should be avoided for the sake of your health and skin. The blood vessels constrict during smoking disabling the skin from getting correct oxygen. Carbon monoxide can increase due to smoking which makes the skin react badly. This can increase the amount of free radicals, which can cause the skin to age faster.
Free radicals are another cause of the skin aging. Free radicals love carbon monoxide, which increases when you smoke. Also the nicotine can make the blood vessels constrict creating a problem for the skin to get oxygen. So think twice or three times before smoking for the good of you skin and your health.
Getting suntans are fun but can be very hard on the skin. It is better to protect your skin with sunscreen of SPF of 30 or higher. When on the beach you need to put sunscreen on every 30 minutes for full protection. There are other cosmetics on the market that also can be purchased and used with SPF protection. So continually throughout the day protect yourself from the negative effects of the sun. You need to have good nutrition too to combat wrinkles. Most importantly you must drink enough water on a daily basis. The recommended amount of water is six to eight 8 ounce containers of water a day. This will help the skin get the necessary moisture for the skin not to dry out so much as you age. Wishing you a life without crinkles and wrinkles.
